Tropical Trash Lessons: What Teaching English in Bali Really Looked Like
The talk focuses on the chaotic and humorous challenges teachers face when working in Bali: unstable student schedules, “Bali time,” noise, weather, cultural mismatches, animals, and blurred roles between teacher and friend in expat communities. Using real stories from three years in Bali and reflections from living in Moscow now, the talk shows how such “trash” environments shape teaching style, stress levels and boundaries. Participants will gain insight into adaptation strategies, self-protection, and keeping teaching effective even in chaos.
